WIP - 10 WIP Roundup Two

So! as i've said before, i work on many things at once, often times switching between subjects as my attention wanders. So, HERE, is another roundup of my lastest WIPS. Two of these should be familar, being the subject of two commissioned pieces (unless i have the permission of the commissioner, or i think they wouldn't mind, i'll most likely hesitate to post WIPS of commissioned work), but the rest should be relatively new.

SO!

First up, Left to Right!

Supergirl Messings Results:
This is wut came out of WIP-7. I like the feel of the short boots alongside the long tights and short skirt, but after DC came out with their REBOOT, i had a hankering to stick to my classic Supergirl costume for now. i WILL most likely do a pinup featuring this costume, if only for Fun.

PinkLantern Wonder Woman!

Now, i KNOW that their REALLY violet lanterns, but since this is MY universe, and craving a connection between the Two, i decided that in MY universe, Pink Lanterns use Pink Kryptonite as their power source. (also, her costume was NOT violet in the comic, it WAS pink >.<) Anyway! enjoy this clearer view of it!

Agent Danny Wednesday:

One of my OC's, Danny is almost as old as Claire, artwise. i haven't had a chance to do TOO much with her, but hopefully this will change as i try to incorporate her into my Superhero OC world. I was really trying for a cross between sexy secret agent, and compotent combantant.

Black Mary Marvel:

I am honestly NOT sure if i wanna Keep this character. I don't much care for Mary Marvel or Captain Marvel normally, finding them far too squeaky clean to be interesting (tho i DID enjoy Alex Ross's one shot Shazam Comic). And whilst i like the costume (one piece latex skirt? AWESOME) i haven't been able to make up a good character BEYOND the costume. So either i'll make up a seperate story for her, or get rid of her altogether.

Scarlet Witch:

Man, this came out a LOT better than i thought it would. i honestly wasn't sure of this costume at first, but then after much tweaking i managed to find a good cross between my own views and the comic look. I plan to do more with her, once i get a few more Avenger's done.

The Question:

As i've said, Renee's done, barring the Mask. i took after cully hamner's sketch work(which i don't remember where i saw, but its out there somewhere), trying to get a cross between Androgeny and sexy. My view is she's more of a Noir character than the Main Stream version, being a cross between the Rick Veitch 2005 miniseries, a female Harry Dresden, and the JLU Animated verison. She's relies more on her detective work then the DCU version, only using her Martial Chopsocky or the Urban Shamanism (which is one of my favorite parts of the character, and which i'm sad not more people used) when she needs to.

ANYWAY!

ENJOY MY WIPS! i'll be sure to try to get some NON-commissioned art done, once i finish a few more commissions.

SO! a couple of notes before you critique!
1) since these are wips and i am posting them STRICTLY for the purpose of critique, i WILL hide any comment that is just 'nice job!' or 'that loooks great!'. no arguments, cus i'm posting these to GET critique, as opposed to my normal art.

2) if you think you can't comment cus you don't know 3D, just treat them as if i drew them, and ignore the fact that their 3D. if something can't be done cus its 3D, well, thats MY problem, not yours.

3) feel free to be as vicious as you need to be! i'd rather have brutal honesty then kind lies!

4) also, in case its not obvious, i'm looking for crits on the COSTUME, and the BODY. the face WILL change, so i'll prolly ignore crits there, at least until i start working on it.

oh yeah, PLEASE don't submit this to groups! its a WIP!

Characters are (C) to their respective owners!

I say keep Black Mary Marvel around. Remember, Mary was abandoned by her brother and supposed best friend, and was told that it would be good for her to have a normal life. Mary decided to rebel against that, and went on a search to find her own way in the world, even if it meant joining Black Adam's crew. I say, if nothing else, it shows that Mary will not play second banana to anyone anymore, something that all of your characters in this piece has demonstrated.

Fun! I always love commenting on these WIP line-up pictures you do. As usual, I'll go through the characters.

Supergirl -- Your classic SG is much better. This one feels a little too off-the-rack. And it looks weird to see her in heels. Those shoes *are* cute though. But I am growing to like that skirt if only because I can imagine that she has better under garments with that skirt.

Lantern Wonder Woman -- Well, I think I expressed my opinions fully on your last rendering of her but I think you've pretty much nailed the look. The texture of the costume is perfect, the metals are soft working beautifully with the colour of the costume and I love the star on her tiara.

Agent Danny Wednesday -- Okay first off, cool freakin' name!! For an archetype character (i.e. the secret agent), she's certainly got a cool look. Although, I think I see an eyepatch there. Reminds me a bit too much of Nick Fury/Elle Driver. I'm curious to know her back story... I really should go and dig through your OCs to learn about them... are there backstories in their entries?

Mary Marvel -- You like those evil versions of good girl characters, don't you? Must be all the black latex. Hahahaha. I love the boots and the dress itself is perfect. Although, I think the lightning bolt would have been better were it done in gold and she could have had a little more style to her hair as it feels a little flat. I would like to see a regular Mary Marvel though. Your cutesy, teen girls are the best you have (i.e. Batgirl and Supergirl).

Scarlet Witch -- Yep, I already gushed about her in your previous image of her. I LOVE the all-red costume and all the details of the costume are perfect. She's instantly recognizable and almost even has that Eastern European look to her face. I'm excited to hear that you'll be doing more Avengers. I know you've previously done She-Hulk but I'm hoping Wasp, Black Widow and Ms Marvel will make it. Although, I am a bit worried that Ms Marvel may cross over too much into S&M territory.

The Question -- Renee!! Did you do her for a potential Batwoman pairing? :P I'm not sure how I feel about this. In a way, I feel it's a little too girlie looking. I always appreciated how Renee was more of a butch character. A double-breasted jacket could possibly remedy that. And I can't help but feel she looks more Asian than Hispanic. Well, you can't see much of her face because of the hat... but the skintone and facial features are more in-line with your Cassandra Cain.

Fantastic. Sexy all around, though Danny Wednesday is particularly nice.

I know nothing about CG rendering, but am so interested in it. I'm a pencil artist who has a bunch of original characters. I was so intrigued at the thought of seeing them CG-rendered that I'm commissioning someone to do some CG renders for me.

This piece you've submitted is gorgeous. Is it tough to make the CG models to reflect original character designs?

not as such. it really depends on whether i have the tools at hand, whether i need to make them, and whether people mind if their clothes are skintight. to be perfectly honest, i've thought about trying my hand at your morning glory character, but i'm always afraid of offending people by my designs (since perforce, i need to REDEsign them to fit the 3d world). if you really wanna see one of your characters in my style, and you don't mind a commission, i AM open at the moment, but if you'd rather an art trade, i'm open to that as well.

i gotta say tho, that i've been following your art since my early day's at HM, and i absolutely love it, so whatever you decide would be an honor to me.

I have a CG artist doing a render of my Morning Glory character, actually, and he said pretty much the same thing, that he can't get the costume EXACT, and I completely understand that. In order to do that you'd have to create the model from scratch, pretty much.

How much would a commission be?

I could do an art trade, but I'm bogged down with work so it'd be easier to do a paid commission, probably. lol
